Merida, Yuc.- In order to preserve Mexican traditions in the state, the Secretary General of the Government, Víctor Caballero Durán, announced the program of commemorative activities for the national month and called on the community to participate in cultural events, civic and artistic activities that will take place in the entity, on the occasion of the CCIII anniversary of the Independence of Mexico.

At a press conference, held in the boardroom of the Secretary General of the Government, and in the presence of the secretaries of Education, Raúl Godoy Montañez; of Tourism, Saúl Ancona Salazar; and of the directors of the Sports Institute, Juan Sosa Puerto; and of Logistics and Protocol, Carlos Aguilar Cervantes; Caballero Duran noted that these celebrations will have great surprises for Yucatecans enjoy as a family the activities that the State Government has prepared for the population.

Carlos Aguilar pointed out that the festivities of the national month will begin on September 3 with the ceremony that marks the start of work restoration of the murals of the late Yucatecan painter Fernando Castro Pacheco, which are located in the Government Palace.

Subsequently, there will be a regional scenic gala called "Filigree Rosary", to commemorate 100 years of the formation of the Mexican Army, at the “José Peón Contreras” theater.

On Thursday the 5th, the play "Tribute to Hidalgo" will also be presented. writer Emilio Carballido, which will have the participation of more than fifty soldiers from the XI Infantry Battalion of the Mexican Army.

The program will continue with the death anniversary of Lieutenant Colonel Juan Crisóstomo Cano y Cano, and the tribute to the Children Heroes of Chapultepec, in the respective parks that bear their names. By night, that same date, the "Eligio Ancona" medal will be awarded to the outstanding writer Jorge Álvarez Rendón. On the 14th there will be the Charro Day parade.

On September 15 will begin with the XXXI edition of the race of the Independence, at 7:00 a.m., to later commemorate the LVI mournful anniversary of the famous writer Antonio Mediz Bolio.

The festivities will begin at 8:00 p.m. with the presentation of mariachis and folk dances, and at 10:45 p.m., the Governor of the State, Rolando Zapara Bello, will go out to the main balcony Government Palace, where he will perform the traditional Cry of Independence, accompanied by authorities of the three levels government, as well as military authorities. At the end of the ceremony, around 11:45 p.m. the show of the singer Lucero.

In this regard, Caballero Durán stressed that families will be able to enjoy the program that has been organized for the night of the 15th and day 16, with full security, thanks to the operations and checkpoints that will be coordinating the elements of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP).

Regarding the events of September 16, the state official announced that the activities will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the Hoisting of the National Flag by the head of the Executive state, in the main square of the Historic Center of the city.

Then at 8:00 a.m. there will be a civic-military parade, which Governor Zapata Bello will also preside, from the central balcony of Government Palace.

Finally, it was reported that the celebrations of the national month will end on day 18 with a ceremony for the birth CXIX of the writer Ermilo Abreu Gómez, in the public square that bears his name.

As a last point, it was mentioned that in order to safeguard order during this period, there will be constant vigilance by the elements of the SSP and the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), in addition to the Municipal Police, at the various points where the events.
